Alpaca at West Egg

Traveling Alpaca visited Newport, Rhode Island (http://www.gonewport.com/), where he oggled the "summer cottages" of the country's wealthiest families. Although the houses are now owned by the Historic Trust, it was easy for the Traveling Alpaca to imagine the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers and other common last names in these estates. The Bluffs was particularly grand, and Traveling Alpaca hopes one day to own a home that warrants its own name.

Traveling Alpaca was particularly excited to see Marble House (http://architecture.about.com/library/blmarblehouse.htm), the setting for his favorite movie, 1974's "The Great Gatsby." Alpaca, the avid reader, is a huge fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald.
