Paros is Such Sweet Sorrow

The Greek isle of Paros (http://www.paros-online.com/) was somewhat uninspired at first blush. The city is centered around a stretch of mediocre shorefront that is largely polluted by the boats at the pier alongside it. Our hotel was allegedly among the nicer ones, but we thought it mediocre. The Alpaca has standards, after all.

We did, however, visit the Church of 100 Doors (http://www.ekatontapyliani.org/), which was very pretty, and bought Ryan a pair of Louis Vuitton sunglasses. However, on the last full day of the Alpaca's stay on Paros, we decided to rent a car (for a mere 15 euros) and drive around the island. The rest of Paros was beautiful. The beaches were unspoiled and the water warm, due to it being more shallow than in Mykonos. We stopped at a few of the beach resorts on the other side of the island and were delighted by them (http://www.paros-online.com/beaches.htm). We also did some real estate hunting - and found palatial estates near the water, with extraordinary views, for $200,000. Made us sick. With envy.
