Sedona's Red Rock Real Estate

Wow. Not just wow at the red rocks of Sedona (http://www.visitsedona.com/), but wow I have the best friends ever.

Husband's cousin's wedding was in Phoenix and I have a very good friend in the area. I called to see if she was available around that time so I could also see her, as it had been a while since I'd seen her. She insisted that we stay at her place and even insisted that I didn't need to rent a car, saying that she would take us everywhere.

Not only did my friend graciously let us stay with her, but she and her husband picked us up from the airport, took us sight-seeing the next day to Canyon Lake (http://www.go-arizona.com/Canyon-Lake) and Tonto National Monument to see the cave dwellings at Montezuma Castle (http://www.nps.gov/moca/), drove us to the church (walking distance from the reception site - the wedding was lovely, by the way) and the following day, took us to Sedona to see the red rocks, then to the airport for our flight home. And when we insisted on paying for meals out, they actually put up a fight. Not cool. It's a good thing I'm a pro at swiping the check.

I'm very lucky.

As far as meals... after hearing about them for so long, we finally went to a Cracker Barrel (http://www.crackerbarrel.com/). The meals were very down home, very midwestern. The portions were large and the prices low. The only drawback is the wait. While in Sedona, we also went to a lovely little restaurant with a terrific view, Bice Grand Cafe Of Sedona (http://www.bicegrandcafesedona.com/BICE-SEDONA.htm). We sat on the balcony and enjoyed a good meal and good company. Amazingly, there was no wait. Perhaps due to the fact that we were there the weekend before Thanksgiving, but it was still a surprise, given the perfect weather and terrific views. We also went to perennial favorite California Pizza Kitchen (http://www.cpk.com/, a chain but consistently good) for dinner the night we arrived.
